Ever since late 2012 when I suffered from a bout of acne, skin clarity has been on my priority list. I yarned for facial cream that would clear my spots, fix hyperpigmentation and generally leave me with clearer skin. Two years late, and I’ve only just discovered the products that do just that. Firstly, its the Dr Andrew Weil for Origins Dark Spot Correcting Night Mask which I will plan on talking about in greater detail in a a separate post. I love it when the postman comes with products I wasn’t expecting. This happened a couple of weeks ago when he arrived with the La Roche Posay Pigmentclar range. The collection consists of three products. A serum, an eye cream and a daily moisturiser which are all formulated to fight against pigmentation. As a women of colour, hyper-pigmentation is something I struggle with. Parts of my face especially around the sides of my face are darker.
Whilst I save the Dr Andrew Weil for Origins Dark Spot Correcting Night Mask for night time use, I use the Pigmentclar Day Care SPF30 as my facial moisturiser before applying make-up in the morning. Not only does it keep my face moisturized the whole day, it also contains SPF30 which helps protect my face from the sun. Something I would have greatly benefited from during those (random ) hot summer days.
Up until late last week, I was using the serum religiously to clear the dark spots left behind from when I suffered from acne. I love the fact that the first two ingredient are water and glycerin because I know my skin absolutely love both. I wasn’t too pleased that it contained alcohol though. Nonetheless, I liked the texture of the serum and the fact that its not too greasy.
Luckily I don’t suffer from dark circles around my eyes so I can’t really tell you how the La Roche Posay Pigmentclar Eyes worked on me. I’m hoping to pass it on to my mother-in-law and see how it works for her.
As always, before I used these products I was nervous that they might cause me to breakout but I’m glad to say these didn’t. To see results, you have to be consistent with them. I have only been using them for a couple of weeks but so far I’m happy with them. The downside of these products for me are the prices – I’d be scared to fork our over £20 for a product and then it not work for me. However they are currently included in a 3 for 2 offer in Boots. I look forward to using these products for longer and seeing the results.
