Specsavers Eye Test and Glasses Review

Don’t you just love the Specsavers television ads? They make me laugh especially the fact that I can relate to them.

Anyway, I had the pleasure of receiving a voucher from  Specsavers which I could spend on a consultation and a new pair of frames. I headed down to their Tottenham Court Road store which stocks the widest range of frames. Before I continue, let me get this out of the way. This store is like glasses land. They stock every type of frames you can think of round, square, rimless, you name it they have it. Brands like Karen Millen Eyewear, Missoni and the new range by Gok Wan.

Before going for my appointment I knew the style of glasses I was after.  Something dark, preferably square shape and the bigger the better. Similar to the Ted Baker ones I have on in my LinkedIn profile picture.

Specsavers

The first pair I tried were these Gok Wan 14 Tortoiseshell frames and it was love at first sight. I went through the whole store trying on other frames but nothing fit quite them. It had everything I was looking for the colour, the style and the definitely the fit. The lady who measured my facial proportion against the frames was like “this is made for your face”.

This was my first time of going to Specsavers and I am happy to say it won’t be my last. The staff were friendly and chatty , they had a wide range of frames to select from and the eye test was very comfortable.I got to select extra features for the lenses and so  I went for Ultraclear and Extra thin. Ultra clear is An anti-reflection and scratch resistant coating reduces reflection on your lenses and they are harder wearing. Light scatter from street lights and car headlights is reduced, giving clearer driving vision at night. Extra Thin is High index plastic lenses are a great solution for people with higher prescriptions – they are better looking, more comfortable to wear and give you a wider range of frames to choose from.

I ended up getting a matching Michael Kors watch when I went to Paris so I guess it was meant to be.The random candle is not as random as you think. It’s because both the glasses and the watch reminded me of the candle which is from Ikea and smells like chocolate.
