So it was announced today that Style icon and TV presenter Laura Whitmore has partnered with Timex to discover what ‘Wear It Well™’ means to the UK. As the Timex Style Insider, Laura has been scouring the streets to uncover the nation’s unique expression of style and find out where we get our fashion inspiration from.
I got the opportunity to ask Laura a few questions about her style, her favourite accessories and a little bit more on what she is doing with the Timex.
Describe your style in three words.
For me, it’s all about keeping it simple: less is more. I absolutely love fashion and following the latest trends but I try not to get carried away: a touch of the latest trend such as a bit of neon here, or metallic there, can keep me feeling stylish without being overpowering. I also always try to dress for myself – I like clothes that bring out my personality and feel natural and comfortable to wear!
What is your favourite accessory?
My favourite accessory is my hamsa necklace that I wear every day. I also love my new Timex® Originals Classic mosaic watch – it’s a great summer accessory and ensures I’m on time too!
What is the best style advice you’ve ever received?
My stylist always encourages me to try new things which is great but the best advice she has given me is to make sure I am always comfortable in my outfit before I leave the house.
The current Timex campaign asks users to “Wear it Well” .Which of your red carpet looks do you think you wore well?
I have loved all of my red carpet outfits but if I had to pick one I would choose the red, metallic leather dress that I wore to the Brit Awards this year and was from a designer called Hasan Hejazi. It was definitely a once in a lifetime dress moment for me.
If you could pick one Timex watch to wear for a year which would it be and why?
At the moment I’m really into mixing the different metals I wear and a good way of doing this is by contrasting my jewellery with my watch. So, I would probably choose the Timex® Originals Classic in rose gold from the new A/W 14 collection. It’s a timeless watch that goes with anything from a chic evening look to a dressed down causal outfit. The rose gold is very on trend and complements both silver and gold jewellery, so I can keep mixing up the metals and changing my look.
Lastly, what are you doing with Timex?
As the Timex Style Insider and I am working with the brand to uncover what Wear It Well means to the UK. I have been scouring the streets to meet fashionistas to find out a bit more about the nation’s sense of style.
The Wear It Well™ concept is about personal, natural and organic style that everyone has, and flaunts, in their own individual way. It applies to everyone and anyone and is unique. It is an expression of their true character.
